Nearly all of us benefit from public services at some point in our lives, whether it’s public schools, home health care, child care, or affordable housing. And we accept that we all need to chip in so we can all have nice things. But now we are facing a state budget shortfall because for too long lawmakers have refused to make the richest Mainers pay their fair share, and that puts vulnerable Mainers at risk.<\/p>\n
This tax day, we’re all about tax fairness.<\/p>\n
We’ll start at 8:30 with some training: we’ll learn about what’s at stake in this year’s budget, how to have good lobbying conversations, how to find our way around the state house complex, and who we need to talk to, and why. Then we’ll seek out our legislators to persuade and gather intel.<\/p>\n
From 11:30 to 1:30 we will join our allies in the Mainers for Tax Fairness coalition for a rally and (short) march to Susan Collins’s Augusta office.<\/p>\n
