That includes being able to meet directly with our elected officials to build relationships and lobby them on important legislation. \nJoin fellow MPA members to learn more about important issues moving down in Washington DC\, how our congressional delegation is voting\, get training on how to be a member lobbyist\, and then connect with elected officials. SUMMARY:How to Talk to Media Training
DESCRIPTION:Open to staff and volunteers who want to learn how to talk to media so that they control the story\, not the reporter or the other side. Skills will include preparing for an interview\, making points and answering questions so you’re more likely to be used in the ultimate story\, staying on message no matter what\, and connecting with reporters in a positive and productive way. Training will include group/pair practice and participants will leave with materials they can use for the future. \nBecause space is limited\, we may not be able to accept everyone who applies. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and why you want to come to the training. Deadline to apply is Monday February 16th\, 2026. Apply here! Cost is $50.00 per person. \nWe aim to offer these trainings to as many people as possible to strengthen the progressive movement. While there are costs involved—staff time\, food\, venue rental\, and materials—the fee we’re asking for covers the basics. However\, we don’t want cost to be a barrier for anyone. If you can’t pay the full amount\, simply pay what you can afford. And if you’re unable to pay at all\, please apply anyway—we’ll do our best to accommodate you! If accepted into the program\, the trainer will discuss with you about payment options and sliding fees.
