DESCRIPTION:This year Maine has a chance to pass a groundbreaking piece of climate legislation that would make polluters pay to protect our communities from the climate crisis. It’s called the Climate Superfund Act\, and it’s simple: polluters like Exxon and Shell pay for the projects that protect our communities from storms\, floods\, and rising sea levels. \nAs part of the Make Polluters Pay Week of Action there will be a pop-up art gallery featuring photos that illustrate the impact of the climate crisis on our towns and cities\, livelihoods and environment. Mainers from across the state are seeing the damage of the climate crisis first hand and paying the price. Maine legislators can shift the costs to those truly responsible for this damage: Big Oil.\n\nThis live gallery will be an opportunity to remind Maine legislators of the impacts the climate crisis is having on our state as they go into the 2026 legislative session and vote on the Climate Superfund Act. \nThe gallery showing will take place at the State House on Tuesday January 27th from 9 to 11am\, but the action day itself will go from 8:30 to 11:30am. We hope you can join! Campaign staff will be on hand for questions and tips. You will need access to a phone and a computer. \nDirect outreach to voters is the proven method of engagement. SUMMARY:Running for Office — Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Timed to help people considering a run for municipal office\, this training will cover how to tell your personal story\, build your campaign team\, and raise the money you need to win. \nBecause space is limited\, we may not be able to accept everyone who applies. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and why you want to come to the training. Deadline to apply is Sunday January 25th\, 2026. Apply here! Cost is $50.00 per person. \nWe aim to offer these trainings to as many people as possible to strengthen the progressive movement. While there are costs involved—staff time\, food\, venue rental\, and materials—the fee we’re asking for covers the basics. However\, we don’t want cost to be a barrier for anyone. If you can’t pay the full amount\, simply pay what you can afford. And if you’re unable to pay at all\, please apply anyway—we’ll do our best to accommodate you! If accepted into the program\, the trainer will discuss with you about payment options and sliding fees.
